“Nothing Compared!”

Matthew 7:7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you.”
This past week I was on vacation in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. As I walked the shoreline of Lake Superior, my mission was to find an Agate. I saw so many pretty stones and wondered if I had found the treasure that I along with others were seeking after. My problem was, I had no idea what an Agate really looked like. In my pursuit I came across a woman that had just found the real deal and was she excited!
She showed me her new found treasure and I quickly realized all the pretty stones I had found were nothing compared to the beauty of an Agate. “Nothing Compared!” My thoughts reflected to Matthew 7:7. How many are desiring to find God, but in their pursuit they don’t even know what to look for. There are many false gods out there. God’s Word is your greatest treasure map. It will lead you in your pursuit in finding the beauty of who Jesus Christ is.

We never know who in life we will cross paths with. I am so glad for the woman on the beach that day, who shared with me about the treasure she had found; what an agate looks like and the best places to find it. When I was a little girl I was raised in a non-Christian home. My family was very dysfunctional and I hungered for true love. An older lady, living down the street from me, took notice of a lost little girl and took the time to share about the “treasure in earthen vessels”. She would tell me about Jesus and she took me with her to church. Years went by and I didn’t focus on pursuing and finding that treasure my friend told me about until about 10 years later. And then a funny thing happened.

I discovered the desire within me, for knowing Christ in a greater way, had never left me. My sweet neighbor lady had planted a portion of the treasure within me as a young girl and I always knew that there was more to be found! So even after serving my Savior now for more than 42 years, my Treasure hunt continues every day! I love the song “The More I Seek You, The More I Find You”! Malachi 3:17 I am His Jewel!
